View Full Version : Halopen Progress Report #3: The Projected Projects For Our Projections

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, but I thought it would be a good time to bring these back. We have quite a few projects moving along in various stages and in various speeds, and sometimes, it’s hard to keep track of what’s going on with what. So here’s an update on our current and future projects.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Medieval Stories: The Warriors Three

COMPLETED!

Phantom

http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z185/Spartanguy12/Phantom.jpg

Originally I was going to take up the filming and editing duties for my own little project, but Mr. Chief John stepped up to the plate and took over the silent black & white script (http://halopen.net/forums/showthread.php?t=354) for me so I could focus on completing “The Warriors Three”.

Um. Huh…

Anyways, filming was pretty hectic, but thankfully, “Phantom” is done with on that front. But according to John, it might be a while before the movie will be released. Due to this fangled thing called “college”, Mr. John didn’t have enough time to completely record and edit during the winter holidays. The earliest he can get back to work on the movie would be during his break in March. All I can say is get ready to buy your tickets for a lovely spring evening showing of “Phantom” on the Halopen veranda.

Dustar, build us a veranda…

The Beatles Machinithology

http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z185/Spartanguy12/TBM.png

Out of these three projects, “The Beatles Machinithology” has had the most traumatized life span. Originally it was a single video that I was going to do completely on my own, then it turned into a ten to fourteen movie project, and finally it became an official Halopen project (http://halopen.net/forums/showthread.php?t=328) to be handled by Mr. Reclaimer. So what’s going on with it now? There have been some filming sessions for the project, but only “Free As A Bird”, one of the seven planned music videos, is close to being completed. This is mainly due to the difficult effects needed to be created for the video and Mr. Reclaimer’s busy schedule.

I really do not want this project to sit around and die, plus I’m going to be project-less after “The Warriors Three”, so after a short talk with Mr. Reclaimer, I have decided that I will be taking over the Beatles project fully while Mr. Reclaimer completes his work on “Free As A Bird”. In the mean time, a totally new set of songs will be selected during a new pre-production phase, and filming sessions will start up immediately after “The Warriors Three” is wrapped-up. More on that when the time comes.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And Many More…

That’s a metaphorical ton on our metaphorical plate, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t start planning for the future. I know Mr. Fuzz, Mr. Reclaimer, Mr. Venom, and I have scripts and/or ideas sitting on the shelves. Personally (I won’t be speaking for our other filmers/editors), I am open to anything that’s being tossed around by any of our writers right now. If you’ve got a script or an idea that you want made, reply here or shoot a message to me. We can talk a bit, and I'll see what we can do about [INSERT PROJECT NAME]. Summer is coming up, so let’s see if we can get the ball rolling.

Thanks for the update among busy busy times! Good to know that everything hasn't been cancelled and is more on a long delay.

Not everything can be turned into a comic, I guess.

Should be receiving the new PVR this Thursday unless inclement weather decides to screw everything up.

I guess I jinxed it. The PVR arrived today. It seems it was sent from Phoenix to Albuquerque to Clovis (just three hours away from where I live) before promptly heading back to Albuquerque and then finally here...

And I think I know the culprit...

Off to work I go.

Indeed sir! Indeed, although from what Firestorm tells me, we're going to need to reshoot a couple quick scenes, BUT PROGRESS IS BEING MADE!

Filming and editing is about half-way-ish done, so "The Warriors Three". As Venom said, we have to refilm a few bits, but the soonest he will be able to join us for filming would be next weekend. So...early March release?

After that, we'll be moving on to "The Beatles Machinithology". I'll need some extra time to finish up pre-production (a week or so at the most). And then it'll be off to filming we go again.

I'll drop a bit of "Phantom" information down on everyone as well. Since I'm in the neighborhood and all...

First, the bad news. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to finish the project by the end of my winter break, and its sitting on the shelf for a while due to the incapable working conditions in a college dorm atmosphere (trust me, its not a good idea). More unfortunately, it appears that I am going to Tampa Bay immediately for spring break, with no going back to Michigan like I had hoped. This mean's no editing "Phantom" until after this semester is over, which is early May.

The good news: I am as committed to this project as ever. I have no plans to drop it, and my heart is in it 100 %. I'm currently in a few film classes as well, which can only help make the final product of "Phantom" become even better. The summer is long friends, and I have nothing on my plate planned to interrupt any machinima building. For now, hopefully we can complete a few projects before going on a creation storm during the blissful school-less summer months!

Thought it would be nice to post up a few stills to show you all the project is actually moving along. Of course, everything is still in progress and is subject to change. Yadda, yadda, yadaa...If you all would like to see some more, I'll be glad to post up more later next week.

Alrighty. Everything is moving along smoothly for "The Warriors Three", and it's looking like it will be released this Monday or Tuesday. But first, we have a few bits and pieces to refilm this Sunday. A few helping hands are needed, so please join us on Reach @ 7-8 PM EST (6-7 PM CST, 3-4PM PST).

And it looks like "The Warriors Three" will not be released this Monday or Tuesday. Filming went over nicely yesterday, but there are a few bits we have to refilm due to complications. Such as dead bodies not appearing in the same place for two people... So, as not to disappoint with another possible delay, I'd say to expect the movie to be released soon-ish.

Any possible update-ish? Not being pushy just very curious and excited about the movie being released!

JUST finished editing. I'll render the final movie tomorrow, and if everything goes fine, it should be up sometime tomorrow afternoon-ish.

I'm running into some complications with rendering the entire movie. Vegas froze about three quarters of the way through the movie (probably because quite a few shots were in .mp4 format), so I rendered the last part of the movie by itself in hopes to re-edit it both parts together for one final render. But it looks like that's not going to happen since Vegas wants to freeze when I import the two rendered parts of the movie.

So...

I've reshot the various shots that were in .mp4 (which Vegas hates) with new ones in .m2ts (which Vegas loves) and am re-rendering the full movie right now.

Well ya know what they say...

If you say your movie was made easily it's probably total shit.

So this is going to be a completely shit-less movie!

As you can see, the movie is up and available in 1080p even! Time to move on to the Beatles Machinithology. Expect an announcement in a week or two!

Thought I would give a quick little update since things has been quite around here lately.

In a little over a month, "The Warriors Three" has garnered over 4,000 views.
"The Beatles Machinithology" is moving along, but I've slowed down on production a bit since I've been busy with lots of other stuff. I'm hoping to start releasing videos sometime in May; though, most likely, it will be late-May. And I'm also thinking about changing to a once-a-week release schedule since I might be picking up a few new projects sometime in the near future.
"Phantom" will continue production/post-production in May!

Can't wait to have an awesome machinima summer fest. I plan to contribute tremendously in return for me being gone from helping out for most of the year, so get ready for Chief John to burst back on the scene!

The time away from Phantom should give me a fresh set of critical eyes when I get back, so I'm very prepared to polish and scrub it to a fine Halopenny finish. I'm also hoping to pick up more projects as the summer goes on, so if anyone has any project ideas that I personally could be invested in, and needs a production slave, let me know!
